Swim

Lisette took a deep breath as the helicopter continued to whirl it's way over a serenely still and glistening Lake Michigan.  Her cousins, the swamp twins, Jonas and Jarvis had successfully kidnapped the Grand Ma-ma's personal physician, Dr. Cohen and were headed to another safe-house, this one located on the far northwest side. Soon she hoped the tracking device she was certain Vladimir had inserted beneath his scalp would be removed.  This way there would be no more surprise murder attempts on her life.  At least not for the time being.  Lisette shook her head in amazement. Her childhood sweetheart had certainly proven to be more trouble than the love she once had for him was now worth to her. She had to make a decision.  Enough was enough.

Out the corner of her eye Lisette stared at the father of her two youngest children no longer seeing why there had ever been any attraction between the two of them to begin with.  Her mother had been right.  Vladimir Gonzalez, the son of Russian and Mexican immigrants had always been beneath her.

"I bloody made you who you are,"  Lisette seethed between clenched jaws and teeth. "You and Lance.  I made the both of you.  I took little weak boys and made you both into men!  I showed you how to dress.  I taught you how to screw. I created your wealth and your power.  And what did I get in return?  Nothing. Lance cheated on me from day one with anything with a crotch, and you! You sent goons to my home with a severed head, and for what?  Why did you do that?"

"You know why Lisette.  You denied me my children.  You lied to me.  You tricked me.  You stole from me.  And for that you will pay a heavy price.  I am not done with you."  Vladimir's eyes gleaned a renewed hatred for the woman he once loved so much.  A woman he would have destroyed anyone for.  And had.  "You are going to be so sorry for the day you put my cock in your mouth!"  And with that declaration Vladimir stomped the helicopter floor with all the strength he could muster into his feet.

"Our children have been kidnapped.  No one knows where they are,"  Lisette said ignoring his ridiculous tantrum, gripping the gun tighter in her lap as the helicopter blades whirred above their heads.  Suddenly Lisette realized she was tired.  Tired of the games, and the lies.  She didn't know where her own children were and sadly at the moment didn't really give a damn.  She'd never wanted kids anyway.  She'd tried to do things differently.  She'd wanted to be better than her own mother had been to her and her sister.  She'd wanted a real family. Most importantly, she'd wanted to feel loved. Five children, a husband and a lover.  That should have been enough.  There should have been enough love for her.  But there wasn't.  Nor had there ever been, and nor would there ever be.

"Do you remember when I first tried teaching  you how to swim?  I snuck behind you while you were cleaning the deep end of mother's swimming pool and pushed you in. You flailed your pale arms in that chemically treated water like a wild albino gorilla, screaming and cursing me in Spanish and Russian, your big head bobbing up and down."  Lisette smiled at the memory.  Vladimir swore he'd never get in water again.  He'd genuinely hated her that day.  Eventually she had made up for it though.

"I remember,"  Vladimir grumbled, staring out the helicopter window admiring the blueness of the lake.

"There's been a change of plans.  I hope you've since learned how to swim,"  Lisette said, before quickly unfastening Vladimir's seat belt and pushing him out of the helicopter door.  She watched in satisfaction as he tumbled through the sky and into the water.  "Bastard!"  She yelled.

The pilot continued to fly as if he hadn't seen a thing.
